The Galaxy Is Yours

Rouf finally hit level 50 last night.

Quick recap: Rouf was the character I started playing during the early start phase before the game launched. I got him all the way up to level 30 (or whatever it was) to get my Legacy name and then switched over to playing a Vanguard who got levelled up to 50 first. Now, over a year after he set out on his journey, Rouf has reached level cap. He’s also the first character to have finished his Chapter 3 story so that’s a bonus (my Trooper still has a couple of missions to go).

So how was it?

I’ll be honest and say that, on balance, I prefer playing the Trooper. I never really got to grips with the Scoundrel playstyle – or, more to the point, felt that it was a bit of a slog. This may well have been because I spectacularly failed to keep gear current and also because, for the last five levels, I was running a hybrid Sawbones/Scrapper spec to try and get some benefit from both healing and DPS. Not that it matters, because he’s level 50 now.

So what’s next?

The next character to level is likely to be my Sith Assassin and, if not him, then probably my Sith Warrior (gotta get the full set of class buffs!). I’m well overdue spending some time on the Imperial side of the fence. I do have a level 20 Jedi Knight as well but, despite recently outfitting his ship with a load of Grade 2 parts, I’m half thinking of starting again with a Zabrak instead of human (and body type 2 instead of 3).

Rouf hits 50

What about the level 50s? One of them will have to do the HK missions that start in Section X on Belsavis now. I think it would be rude not to. I should also seriously think about trying to run some Flashpoints as I haven’t really bothered at all. My Vanguard currently has a token to get a full set of Tionese gear from the new Advanced Gear mission introduced in Patch 1.6 but I haven’t bought any yet as I was dithering about which suit to get. I should get tanking gear and then learn how to tank properly as, from what I glean from general chat, there is a dearth of tanks for flashpoints. Or maybe that’s a dearth of good tanks so I won’t really be helping. Rouf should just get healing gear I suspect.

Having said that, there’s a new expansion just around the corner with an increased level cap and the prospect of mudflation kicking in. So that Tionese set and that new PvP armour I’m sporting will be redundant before long. I wonder how they’ll manage that? Will they shift all the Operations to have a level 55 version or introduce a load more? How’s it going to affect PvP gear? So many questions! And so much to look forward to.

As for Rouf, he seems to be happy working for the Republic at the moment and has even strayed from a morally neutral path towards the Light Side and is in severe danger of seeming like a bit of a goody two shoes. Basically, he epitomizes a Chaotic Good alignment. In the words of a certain Captain Han Solo “Sometimes it feels good to help someone, sometimes it feels good to get paid. One day I’d like to know what it feels like to have both.” (Planet of the Dead)

Onwards and upwards.

Cool guys walking away
